2009 Rotoff Fantasy Golf Draft Kit Preview

shlinklincoln December 9th, 2008

Shlink Lincoln Sports is proud to offer the 2009 Rotoff Golf Draft Kit. This year’s Rotoff Draft Kit is packed with 20+ pages of in depth fantasy golf analysis and consists of four main parts, the Outlook 100, Overall 100, SLS 2008 and SLS 2007. While the rankings are tailor made for Rotoff Golf and Auction leagues, they will help in just about any fantasy golf format including Bestball, Salary Cap and Yahoo! leagues. We have ranked over 200 golfers including a breakdown of how they rate during each of the PGA Tour’s seven Segments.

Don't forget to check out Playerline.com for fantasy football rankings. It's a great site with some pretty cool tools...

Overall 100, SLS 2008 and SLS 2007 are sortable excel sheets and loaded with PGA Tour stats. You can search each sheet by golfer name, Wins, Top 10s, etc. to help you search for your team needs.

The Outlook 100 is a focused breakdown of the Top 100 PGA Tour golfers according to Shlink Lincoln Sports’ unique Rotoff rating system. Each golfer is ranked in nine stat categories, weighted based on how often they play and how well they score, and given a Unit value. This Unit value is a golfers worth in a standard Draft Auction format of 100 Units and 10 golfers per team.

Outlook – This is our analysis for the 2009 PGA Tour season. We point out a golfer’s strengths and weaknesses, while also giving Draft Auction advice where we see fit, to help you prepare for your fantasy golf season.

Overall vs. 2008 - Overall is 2007 and 2008 PGA Tour stats combined while 2008 is just stats for the 2008 PGA Tour season. One year on Tour does not define a golfer so we have provided two views to compare and contrast. Below each stat is the golfers rank in that category, Overall out of 100 and 2008 out of 262.*

Units (100) – This is a golfers worth in a standard Draft Auction format of 100 Units and 10 golfers per team. If you are not using a Draft Auction for your fantasy golf draft I highly recommend it. It is the only way to “Tiger Proof” your fantasy golf league.

TC – New to Rotoff Golf in 2009 is the Team Captain. You designate your TC at the beginning of every Segment and for each tournament your TC plays all four rounds and finishes in the Bonus you get double Bonus points. The TC rating is a recommendation grade based on the following:

A = Bonus in 4+ Segments
B = Bonus in 3 Segments
C = Bonus in 2 Segments
D = Bonus in 1 Segment
F = Bonus in 0 Segments

TC rating is also a good indicator for performance in Salary Cap leagues.

Events – Total Events Played from 2007-2008.

Avg. Finish – A golfers average finish in 2008 excluding missed cuts, withdrawals and disqualifications.

RSARotoff Scoring Average is a golfer’s projected Rotoff Golf score per tournament. Because bogies and worse rarely play until the final rounds in Rotoff Golf, bogies are weighted less than +1 stroke. In addition this stat is a good indicator of performance in Bestball leagues, the lower the RSA the better.

Wins – Total number of Wins on the PGA Tour for selected view.*

BonusBonus points are awarded in Rotoff Golf for overall tournament finish as follows:

Win = 3 points
2nd = 2 points
3rd = 1 point

Top 10 – Total number of Top 10s on the PGA Tour for selected view.*

C/W/D – Cuts, withdrawals and disqualifications.

Eagles – Total eagles.

Birdies – Total birdies.

Bogies – Total bogies.

Money List and Segments** – Standard Rotoff Golf league weekly payouts are weighted for Major (5x) and WGC/P (2x) tournaments. The Money List and Segment grades are based on the following:

A = Plays 70% of the time
B = Plays 50% of the time
C = Plays 33% of the time
D = Plays 20% of the time
F = Hardly to never plays
+ (plus) = With Bonus
- (minus) = With C/W/D

Bonus in any Segment will cancel C/W/D in the same Segment. Money List and Segment ratings are also a good indicator of performance in Yahoo! leagues for a specific grouping of tournaments.

*Based on PGA Tour FedEx Cup schedule (minus US Bank Championship, Reno-Tahoe Open and Viking Classic). In addition the only stats from the WGC-Accenture Match Play Championship that counts in the rankings are Wins.

**Time missed due to Injury does not count in Money List and Segment ratings.

2008 Week 37: SLS Cup Championship / Tour Championship Scoring

shlinklincoln September 23rd, 2008

Round 4

Romig is victorious!  On the heals of an amazing end of the year run that saw a streak of three straight $ Finishes in weeks 30-32 (including a PGA Championship win), Romig cruises through the SLS Cup Playoffs thanks to young guns Anthony Kim (team MVP) and Camilo Villegas.  2007 SLS Cup champ Dutch Roll could get no closer than four shots after the first round and his bid for a second straight SLS Cup title was denied.  In two playoff matches, Romig won by an average of fourteen shots.  A dominating season and a fitting redemption for just barely missing out on last year’s SLS Cup Playoffs.

In the consolation match Golf Cheese Hoes pulls away in the final round in a tight match through three rounds, beating Honma -11 to -6.  The 5th seed to begin the playoffs, Golf Cheese Hoes had #1 seed Dutch Roll on the ropes in the semifinals, only to falter on Sunday.  Not this week.  Golf Cheese Hoes gets a solid round of E from Mike Weir to clinch 3rd place for the season.

2008 SLS Cup Champion: Romig $100.00 (+$42.00 ML)

2008 SLS Cup Runner Up: Dutch Roll $50.00 (+$21.00 ML)

2008 SLS Cup 3rd Place: Golf Cheese Hoes $30.00 (+$36.00 ML)

2008 SLS Cup 4th Place: Honma $15.00 (+$33.00 ML)

Congrats to Romig, the 2008 SLS Cup Champion.  The SLS Cup will be presented at the end of December at the 2009 Rotoff Draft Auction.

Round 3

Dutch Roll gets some shots back with a round of -6, two shots better than Romig on the day, and cuts his defecit to five shots heading into the final round, -27 to -22.  It will be K.J. Choi vs. Anthony Kim in the final round of the SLS Cup Championship.

It’s all tied up still.  Golf Cheese Hoes and Honma both shoot -2 in the third round and are both tied at -11 overall.  Mike Weir and Briny Baird will compete in the final round to determine the 3rd place finisher.

Round 3 FC

Stewart Cink, Justin Leonard, Vijay Singh, Camilo Villegas

Round 2

Romig increases his lead over Dutch Roll with a solid round of -10 to get to -23 overall, and a lead of seven shots.

 Honma ties up the consolation match with Golf Cheese Hoes in shooting a -5, and tied at -9 overall.

Round 2 FC

Jim Furyk, Ryuji Imada, Steve Stricker

Round 1

Romig gets two eagles on his scorecard (Furyk at the 1st, Villegas at the 15th) and gets out to a comfortable four shot lead over defending SLS Cup Champion Dutch RollIt is the first time Dutch Roll has trailed in these SLS Cup playoffs.  The fantasy cut will be important this weekend as the course is playing very tough.

In the consolation match, Golf Cheese Hoes  has a slim one shot lead over Honma, -5 to -4.
